Assignment 2—Project        Analysis of a destination    

Your research for this assignment must commence at the beginning of Study Period 5 because you need to allow yourself plenty of time to find the information you require to complete the assignment.  Carefully read your Study Guide for advice relating to this assignment.  The assignment assists in the development of Graduate Qualities 4, 5 and 7.  It is designed to meet the following course objectives 2, 5 and 6. Assessment of the assignment will be based on your understanding of the topic you have chosen and on your ability to be self-directed in researching your topic.  You are required to use scholarly sources of ideas and information, to cope with a substantial piece of work and to communicate your understanding clearly and concisely.  You will also be required to demonstrate your understanding of referencing.  The value of the assignment is 50%, that is, 10% for Submission 1 and 40% for Submission 2.

In this assignment you are required to analyse tourism at a specific destination.  The destination must be chosen from the following options:

Destination 1  Northern Territory in Australia

Destination 2  Vietnam in South-east Asia

Destination 3  Norway in Northern Europe

Destination 4  Peru in South America

Destination 5  Prince Edward Island in Canada

Destination 6  Kenya in East Africa

SUBMISSION 1: Submission date Monday October 5

Listed below are six journal articles, one for each of the destination options you have been given for Assignment 2.  You are required to submit a summary of the article that relates to the destination you have chosen.  Your summary should be two A4 pages in length using Font 12 Times New Roman in single line spacing.  It must be written almost entirely in your own words. Any quotations used must be very brief.  Quotations must not be used to avoid writing difficult sections of the article in your own words. Follow the instructions you receive in Information Sheet 9 (Doing Assignment 2 Submission 1) about how to access these articles electronically.  You must also read about how to write a summary in Information Sheet 8.
